Grade 12 is a beginning of great things in life.

Diversity High School principal Tsekiso Motlengoa, teachers and guests congratulated the Class of 2022 and wished them the best at the valediction ceremony on October 19.

The Grade 12s filled the school hall and they were treated to special music and motivation. They were told they need to make a difference in the world and leave their footsteps wherever they go.

The principal said it is up to them to be what they want in life.

“I want you to go home tonight and tell yourself that you are going to be successful. And that must be attached to yourself from now onwards.”

Last year’s golden boy Lwando Msibi, who obtained six distinctions, said they need to surround themselves with people who will encourage and push them.

Lwando is studying Bachelor of Health Sciences in the field of biomedical sciences at the University of Witwatersrand.

Nkululeko Sokwebo, who is a pilot, also related his encouraging story to the learners.

His story is one of hope and opportunities. He said he was born in Thembisa to a domestic mother and father who was a cleaner at OR Tambo International Airport. They lived in a two-roomed shack.

“Always be kind to the next person. Don’t let hard times change you, change the hard times. Trust the process as I did. I’ve been a pilot now for six years,” he said.

More guest speakers shared their thought with the learners, encouraging them to do well in life and take education seriously.
