Court sentences robbery with aggravating circumstances suspect

Zimbabwean Phakamani Nkomo (26) was sentenced to two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances by Magistrate Vele at Booysens Magistrate’s Court on August 22.

He was sentenced to eight years imprisonment on count one and eight years on count two. Four years of the sentence for count two will run concurrently with the sentence for count one.

Count one: On October 14, 2021, in Johannesburg, the accused unlawfully and intentionally assaulted a female victim and forcefully took two cellphones in her possession.

Count Two: On November 6, 2021, in Johannesburg, the accused unlawfully and intentionally assaulted a female victim and forcefully took two cellphones in her possession.

The accused is unfit to possess a firearm.
