Illegal miners arrested during an operation in Alberton and Germiston

CPS Security together with other law enforcement organisations arrested illegal miners during an operation between Alberton and Germiston.

Numerous alleged zama zamas (illegal miners) were arrested during an operation that was conducted by several law enforcement entities between Alberton and Germiston, Ekurhuleni, on November 15.

According to the director of CPS Security, Tyrone van der Merwe, they followed up on information they received regarding unlicensed firearms and illegal mining activities in the Ekurhuleni region.

“Our team, together with other law enforcement entities hit three different locations and led to several successes,” Van der Merwe said.



They confiscated ammunition, mining equipment, and firearms. Several suspects were also arrested.

CPS Security thanked everyone who was involved in ensuring that the local streets were kept free and safe from criminal activities.
