Lifter Liam sets impressive new records

After making his international debut in 2022 in Morocco, Kibler Park’s weightlifting champ Liam Chandler is reaching even greater heights after setting new records.

Dominant weightlifting champ Liam Chandler is leading his weightlifting divisions.

The Hoërskool Dinamika alumnus, who is part of Movement Crew, recently competed in the South African Weightlifting Championships where he broke SA records.

This year has been quite eventful for the Kibler Park athlete, and he continues with the momentum.

Liam broke junior and senior records and won the senior division. He recently maintained records in his weight class during the SA Champs, securing an SA snatch record of 132kg, and an SA clean and jerk record of 155kg, accumulating an impressive total record of 287kg.

This now also gives him the new junior records as well as the senior Gauteng snatch record.

In the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships held earlier this year in India, while competing in the 109kg junior category, Liam maintained an impressive 280kg total.

His father, Gavin Chandler, applauded his 19-year-old son for his great achievements, adding that commitment and long hours of hard work culminated in his continuous growth.
