Shay’na nge White Star introduces campaign to support local musicians

White Star encourages individuals to support local musicians as they bring a beautiful beat to everyone's life.

To honour and promote local musicians, the Keep Shining campaign has been developed.

Keep Shining aims to recognise local musicians and acknowledge their contributions to the continued success of the local musical sector.

It is the most recent project created under the guidance of Shay’na NgeWhite Star (Shine with White Star), a popular music showcase and yearly support programme that was first introduced in 2020.

White Star’s marketing manager Mokhele Makhothi said that the support for local music has sadly decreased because of the harsh realities of the past few years.

In the last three years, the music industry has also been dealt a blow from the tight economic conditions that have negatively impacted consumers and the already precarious financial situation of musicians.

“The campaign aims to ensure that artists can shine brighter than ever before. We want to help them showcase their talent at home and abroad – and to get the recognition they deserve – by providing practical advice and resources to support their success.

“We want to garner more support for them and to help them unleash that South African spirit of ubuntu by celebrating each other,” said Makhothi.

White Star and Radio 2000 have joined forces to spread the message of ‘keep shining’ across the entire nation.
White Star, is a longtime advocate for musicians and the music business. started the campaign to encourage people to support the amazing talent in Mzansi and to help balance this imbalance.

The Drive Connection special editions will be available for 12 weeks, commencing on May 19 to listeners. Langa Mavuso, Ncebakazi and Simphiwe Dana are a few of the legends and rising talents that will be featured and recognised each week on the show.

They will be sharing their experiences and discussing some of the accomplishments and problems they’ve faced in their careers.

“Let’s celebrate and support the people who bring the beat into our lives so that they and we can keep shining,” Makhothi concluded.
