Inspector Ronald Ramalata rescues trapped kitten

"We say thank you to Pep for contacting us to come and rescue the kitten," said Marx.

Senior Inspector Ronald Ramalata rescued a kitten that had slipped, fallen and got stuck between two walls, on February 5.

The head of public relations at the Johannesburg SPCA, Liana Marx, said the Pep workers heard a kitten cry but could not locate it. Ronald climbed into the roof but saw nothing, yet they could all hear the constant crying.

“Inspector Ronald realised that the crying came from within the wall. He climbed back in the roof and saw that a kitten had fallen between the walls with no way to get out.

Without a second thought, he and the workers moved the clothing rails and broke the wall with a hammer. After a few minutes, he broke through and got the scared kitten out.

The wall where Pepsi was stuck.

“Pepsi, as the kitten is now called, is about five weeks old and does not like what happened to him. He tries to be brave and fierce, but if you have ever seen a kitten hiss and growl, you know he just needs a hug and some love to show him all is okay. He was checked out by our medical team and given the all-clear.

“Inspector Ronald climbed back into the roof to see if there were more kittens or a mommy but saw nothing,” said Marx.

Pepsi.

Marx added that Pepsi will soon be put up for adoption, and needs to realise he does not have to be scared or hiss all the time.

“We say thank you to Pep staff for contacting us to come and rescue the kitten,” said Marx.
