Eden Park mother Joanne Swartbooi, accused of murdering her boyfriend, made her first appearance at the Johannesburg High Court on January 27.
This is after the State produced an indictment calling for her matter to be moved from Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court to be heard in the high court.
Swartbooi faces a charge of murder and defeating the ends of justice after being accused of killing her boyfriend, Timothy Jacobs, with a baseball bat and burning his body.
During her recent appearance, the court provisionally stood her matter down to make contact with her defence representative; however, her attorney was not present on the day.
She continues to remain in custody and is expected to reappear on February 24 for pretrial.
