Between 25% and 50% of all traffic accidents are thought to include distracted driving.
Driving carefully benefits everyone on the road, not just the driver.
Follow these road safety recommendations for a safer trip:
• Don’t drink and drive.
• Obey the posted speed limit.
• Avoid using a phone while driving. It’s against the law and quite risky.
• Make sure the car is roadworthy.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and pre-trip inspections.
• Avoid being distracted when driving. Before you start driving, adjust all of your devices, mirrors, and controls.
• Make sure everyone in the car is secured to their seatbelt.
• Observe a safe following distance. Follow the two-second rule.

• If the car breaks down on the road, turn on the hazard lights, wear a seatbelt and wait for professional assistance.

• When approaching a level crossing, heed the warnings on the road. Before you cross, make sure the tracks are free in both directions.
