Southern Stars Baseball players awarded

Southern Baseball had a challenging season, but they still placed in the top six overall in their league and recruited new players throughout the year.

Recently, the senior reserve team received awards during a year-end prize-giving ceremony.

“We would like to congratulate all of our senior reserve players who received awards at the prize-giving. Your dedication has made us look forward to the 2023 winter season and every one of you has become a part of the Stars family,” said the chairman, Shaun Niemand.

Players who received awards at the prize-giving:

• Most fines paid for the season – first place went to Kyle Kleber, second place to Jarrod Kleber and third place to Ryan Kahn.

• Silvio and Kyle Posthumus had the most strike outs for the season.

• The line-up fail award went to Boetie van Rensburg.

• Dyllan Kuhn was awarded the too hot to handle award.

• The floating trophy winners were OD Dickinson (game changer trophy), Ryan Kahn (blooper award), Silvio Dominianni (Ron Peterson star award), Jarrod Kleber (home run award), Shaun Niemand (wooden spoon award), Dylan Roberson (most valuable player) and Nicarl Roberson (most committed stars supporter).

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors who have assisted us during the 2022 season – Raceview Motors, Dicko Bird Washing Lines, Hooked Digital, DJ E Productions, Steamline Fire & The Virtual Bakery,” said Niemand.

Through these sponsorships and donations from players, the team were able to establish a junior baseball team.

“Thank you to everyone who made this year one to remember as well as to all the behind-the-scenes people who assist in keeping the club running.”
