Last chance to book for the SOJO Annual Charity Golf Day in association with Gold Reef City, which will take place at Reading Country Club on November 25.

The golf day, which benefits the Johannesburg Homelessness Network (JHN) is the highlight of the SOJO calendar. Founded in 2018, JHN works to support those who are homeless throughout Johannesburg.
Furthermore, the JHN creates ground-breaking new initiatives like the provision of services and employment opportunities for the homeless.
It also seeks collaborative solutions to help the homeless leave the streets completely. Working with communities, the JHN intends to establish drop-in centres, overnight safe spaces, skills hubs, shelters and transitional accommodation, all of which will be supported by social work counselling and other services.
Vice-chairperson of the JHN, Mary Gillett-de Klerk said: “The JHN/SOJO area committee seeks the community’s help in making these facilities and services a reality across the south of Joburg.”
According to the CEO of SOJO Business Tourism, Nicky Vakaloudis, they are looking forward to raising much-needed funds to establish a homeless drop-in centre and shelter in the south, as well as collaborating with the businesses in their network to help bring this project to fruition.
“You can still support this event even if you don’t play golf. At the SOJO year-end event, Simply For Entertainment will have you up dancing all night long while you eat a delicious buffet dinner. You don’t want to miss it.
“Additionally, there will be a raffle for a three-night romantic getaway at Vrischgewagt, sponsored by Lara Travel and a sports memorabilia auction with limited edition signed items,” said Vakaloudis.
Prices are as follows: R4 000 per four-ball (includes green fees, lunch at the halfway house, prize-giving dinner and golf shirt). R2 500 for advertising hole only, R4 500 for four-balls plus advertising hole special, R395 per person for year-end function dinner only.
Bright and bold is the dress theme. Prize for the most unique, bright and daring recycled outfit.
Bring old clothing (especially for men), nonperishable food and toiletries for the JHN collection box, which will be set up at the golf day.
