Domestic abuse not only negatively affects the women who are the victims, but it also has harmful, long-lasting effects on children.
These include children who lack social skills, have low self-esteem, struggle with anxiety and depression, have trouble focusing and learning in class, are afraid to express their feelings and either act out their anger violently or refrain from doing so out of fear.

The #EndDomesticSilence campaign, led by JOKO Tea South Africa, in collaboration with POWA, seeks to break the secrecy surrounding domestic abuse and promote speaking out, reporting, awareness, and education about it.
Counselling is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week at the GBV Command Centre on 0800 428 428.
