St Declan’s Aviation Club visits Springs Airfield

Members from the St Declan’s school for boys’ aviation club payed a visit to the Springs Airfield recently to learn more about flying.

St Declan’s School for Boys’ Aviation Club recently visited the Springs Airfield for a flying experience.

The Grade Four to Grade Seven members of the club were invited to come see what is going on at the airfield.

There was an “air” of excitement as the learners and their parents arrived at the hanger while Mr. Magnus was busy briefing everyone on flying etiquette.

The Grade Six aviation learners took to the sky on the maiden flight in Uncle John’s Safari as everyone stood in awe of this original experience for the boys.

The day proceeded with Springs pilots taking the learners and their families for short flights around the Springs area. While en route, the pilots explained air safety and gave the passengers a turn at flying the plane from the passenger seat.

They also gave everyone an explanation of the various factories in the area and other interesting landmarks.

Albert Camus said it best: “You cannot create experience. You must go through it. And our school’s Aviation Club definitely went through an inspiring experience where the passion for aviation was exchanged across generations.”

The young members were definitely impressed and inspired to pursue their journey in aviation.

The members from St Declan’s Aviation Club would like to extend their deepest thanks to the pilots from Springs Airfield, the Aviation Club parents and the St Declan teachers that made the flying experience a success.
