Thabang inspires to make a difference

"My book is for everyone who wants to change his or her life." - Thabang.

Author, motivational speaker and weightlifter Thabang Motloung has achieved some of his goals in a short space of time.

He published a book called Unlocking Your Earning Potential With Microsoft Excel and is also active in powerlifting.

“I started going to gym in January 2020, after the sudden death of my mother in October 2019 as a result of cancer. The intention behind joining the gym was never to become a professional athlete.

“I joined it because I was in a state of depression and had lost a lot of weight.”

Within two years at the gym and less than two weeks of being a professional athlete, he did not only make it to provincial, but he also made it to the South African nationals in the 74kg category.

“With the help from my coaches (Dina, Scott, Sean and Maureen), who themselves have competed on the international stage, I have no doubt I will one day represent my country.

“I also train under the South African Powerlifting Federation and International Powerlifting Federation, and we’re regulated by the Olympic body, known as the World Anti-Doping Agency.

“My book, which is a guide to becoming a high earner, has not only been bought by the likes of Princess Palesa Kambule from the Royal Family of Swaziland but also chartered accountants, engineers, doctors and actuaries.

“I’m working hard to get it donated to the heritage schools of June 16, 1976 – Naledi High School, Morris Isaacson and Orlando High School. My mother attended two of these schools,” he said.

“The inspiration to make a difference comes from within the family, my late mother’s morals and drive, and the fact that mining billionaire businessman Patrice Motsepe’s father-in-law from the Moloi’s side is the cousin of my late grandmother, Queen.”
