Ten suspects arrested at a hijacked property in Rosettenville

It is alleged the property was hijacked by a group of Nigerian nationals in 2018.

Ten suspects (nine males and one female) were arrested at a hijacked property in Rosettenville on February 8.

It is alleged the property was hijacked by a group of Nigerian nationals in 2018. The matter was then reported to the City’s group forensic and investigation service (GFIS) department for investigation.

The owner then approached the High Court of South Africa, where an eviction order was granted and executed in October 2021. However, the suspects forcefully moved back into the property.

Lucky Sindane, spokesperson for GFIS, said a special operation was conducted by GFIS with the SAPS Property Hijacking Investigation Task Team and JMPD.

“The property has been secured and handed over to the security personnel hired by the owner of the building. The City is committed to ensuring it stops the rot in the City and make it a prosperous and inclusive place for our people to live, work and play,” explained Sindane.
