Housing MMC warns the public against fake poster

Mabaso urges residents to not pay anyone who has promised to give them houses.

A fake poster with MMC for Housing Mlungisi Mabaso’s face and the City of Johannesburg logo on it claims people who applied for RDP houses in 1996 will be allocated houses at the housing offices in Johannesburg this week.

Mabaso warned members of the public to disregard this poster circulating on social media because it is fake.

He said there are no housing allocations in South Hills as stated on the poster. He said this is yet another scam aimed at frustrating both members of the public and the department.

He also urged residents to not pay anyone who has promised to give them houses.

“The housing department is planning to allocate houses to deserving beneficiaries in different regions of the City of Johannesburg and will communicate when it is ready to do so,” said the MMC.
