Pillay matter postponed for representations

The matter will be heard again in Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court on August 27.

Businessman Deon Pillay appeared in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on August 5.

The matter was postponed to August 27 for representations to be finalised. Pillay stands accused of theft, fraud and contravention of the Prevention of Organised Crimes Act.

The charges pertain, according to Lucky Sindane, spokesperson of the City’s Group Forensic and Investigation Services, to the failed delivery of 570 desktops from Pillay’s company that the City of Johannesburg procured in 2014, although he was paid R8.5-million.

Pillay’s bail of R50 000 has been extended.
