WATCH: #StrongerTogether at Mall Of The South

The challenge was well received by the community as it displayed unity and togetherness in the Johannesburg south region.

Mall of the South is a community-driven regional shopping centre that strives to unite the local community by extending a helping hand to #HelpThyNeighbour and by standing together, therefore #StrongerTogether.

During a time of uncertainty, Mall of the South uplifted the community’s spirit by participating in the global #JerusalemaDanceChallenge, reminding individuals that no matter what challenge we are faced with, we are #StrongerTogether.

The challenge was well received by the community as it displayed unity and togetherness in the Johannesburg south region.

Mall of the South further shared messages of hope in their #StrongerTogether brand video, where they had incorporated members of the community, staff, and tenants to share their #StrongerTogether caption.

Since the first positive case announcement in South Africa and the lockdown in March, Mall of the South implemented Covid-19 safety measures to ensure safe and pure shopping pleasure.

The cleaning chemicals were changed to alcohol-based cleaning sanitisers and they increased the cleaning frequency of all contact elements in the common areas, which included the escalator handrails, staircases, balustrade handrails, elevator buttons, and panels, the parking equipment and the ablution facilities.

All persons that enter the mall are required to wear a facial mask and to maintain a 2m social distance as per Covid-19 regulations.

“We have placed hand sanitisers at every entrance to the mall, by all the parking pay stations, in all the bathroom entrances and inside all the elevator,” said Hester Smith, the general manager of Mall of the South.

In aid of #supportlocal, Mall of the South has a Covid-19 info kiosk available that is managed by the Liefde en Vrede community.

The kiosk sells facial masks and provides coronavirus information and support to tenants and shoppers. A portion of the proceeds goes to local NPOs uch as St Mary’s Children’s Home, Bellavista Crèche and Swinburn for the elderly.

“We are living in a sensitive time but when we stand together we can achieve greatness by making a difference in one’s life and our community. We need to continue to be kind to one another as we are in this together.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to our shoppers, tenants and staff for their invaluable support and loyalty during this time,” said Hester.
