Ormonde house break-in suspect gets three years in prison

“The suspect was sentenced to direct imprisonment for three years"

Booysens SAPS Sgt Edmond Rangwanasha’s fight against crime resulted in the suspect getting a sentence of three years in prison for house break-in.

Last year on September 18 at 8am the complainant left his place of residence in Ormonde. All the doors and windows were properly locked and the alarm was activated.

On the same day at about 10.18am he received a call from his wife informing him that ADT Security is at the house and they caught a suspect who was breaking into the house.

When he arrived at his house he found two security vehicles and security officers with the suspect. They told him they had found the suspect inside the garage. The complainant started to check around and found the garage door was damaged and cottage burglar gate was forced open.

Booysens SAPS was contacted and the suspect was arrested for house break-in.

Booysens SAPS communications officer Capt Lorraine van Emmerik said the docket was given to Rangwanasha to investigate and all relevant information and statements was obtained.

“The suspect was sentenced to direct imprisonment for three years on October 22. The suspect was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

“The management of Booysens SAPS wishes to thank Sgt Edmond Rangwanasha in obtaining this successful conviction,” she said.
