The organisers said the day was successful as residents came in their numbers with their furry friends.
The community outreach afforded at least 245 dogs and cats an opportunity to be vaccinated, dewormed and tick dipped. The pet owners were also excited to receive food parcels and blankets to keep their furry friends warm.
As the day proceeded, the team also entertained the community by joining the rest of the country in taking part in the Jerusalema dance challenge.
Glynis Jones of Southside Sterilisation Assistance Project said the event was made a success by funds generated from their events.

“The Alberton community has been amazing with donations and supporting our Boerrie and Prego days. They have also donated much-needed jumble which we sell online. We thank Brackenhurst Veterinary Hospital vets for offering so much time and effort,” she said.
Jones said they have done over 100 sterilisations since July for the Jackson informal settlement community.
Christine Waller, Cause 4 Paws volunteer, commended the community outreach and said it served a greater purpose for children.
“This will help the children understand more about their pets and it will also teach them responsibility. They will get to know animals need to be fed and well taken care of. This event will give them more knowledge,” she said.
