A peaceful protest, Move ONE Million (M1M) started at the corner of Bellaire and Kliprivier Road.

Residents from across Alberton and Johannesburg South came together in the hope of taking a stance against South Africa’s supposed corrupt system this morning, September 5.

These are some of the grievances for the march:

  1. Corruption – including looting of covid-19 relief funds
  2. Job losses due to extensive unlawful lockdown
  3. Lack of financial assistance for business
  4. Tourism shutdown and job losses
  5. Farm murders being brushed aside and ignored by the president
  6. ZERO proper housing for people in informal settlements irrespective of empty promises made over and over by government
  7. The shocking state of government hospitals
  8. The complete lack of assistance to people without any means of income due to lockdown
  9. Stolen and looted food parcels that never reached the needy
  10. Ongoing and escalating domestic violence
  11. Ongoing illegal and illogical cigarette ban
  12. Yet another ban on alcohol which lead to even more job losses
  13. Schools being closed down yet again
  14. Restaurants not being able to operate properly
  15. Gyms and private studios not being allowed to operate
  16. NO sporting events allowed – not even runs where it is easy to stick to “social distancing”
  17. Police brutality towards innocent citizens attempting to take their human rights back under this unlawful and unconstitutional lockdown
