A suspect was later arrested and following the investigation, the docket was placed at court.

Booysens SAPS detective branch recently celebrated the conviction of a thief.

On January 29 at 4.30pm the complainant locked his business premises in Robertsham and went home.

The following day the complainant arrived at work and noticed the palisade was damaged.

He walked toward the building and noticed there was a window broken. He entered the building and saw a computer was stolen.

The SAPS was contacted and a docket of the business break-in was opened.

Capt Lorraine van Emmerik, Booysens SAPS communications officer, said the docket was handed to WO Fanie van Staden.

A suspect was later arrested and following the investigation, the docket was placed at court.

“The suspect was sentenced to a fine of R10 000 or five years’ imprisonment. The court also found the suspect unfit to possess a firearm as he was found guilty of an offence involving an element of dishonesty.”
