Two men killed in Rosettenville shooting incident

Two men, aged 38 and 41, sustained fatal injuries following a shooting incident on the corner of Albert and Rose streets in Rosettenville on August 5.

According to ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen, when ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 2pm, they found a heavy police presence and a vehicle in the road.

“Upon further assessment, paramedics found a man still inside the vehicle and another man lying partially outside of the vehicle.

“The men had both sustained multiple gunshot wounds and had succumbed to their injuries on the scene. They were both declared dead by paramedics. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not known to our paramedics, but police were on scene for further investigations,” said van Huyssteen.

Capt Jeff Phora, communications officer at SAPS Johannesburg District, said it is alleged the men were sitting in the car when two men approached them and started firing shots at them.

“Over 35 rounds of ammunition were found on the scene. According to eyewitnesses, a white Mazda sedan was used as a getaway vehicle. Police are investigating a double-murder case which has been registered at Moffat View SAPS,” added Phora.
