House break-in and theft suspect found guilty

On June 30, the suspect was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of R50 000 or undergo direct five years' imprisonment wholly suspended for five years.

Booysens SAPS WO Fanie van Staden has helped obtain a guilty sentence on a case he was working on.

On New Year’s Eve last year, the complaint locked up his premises in Haddon and left.

On January 3, the complainant returned home and noticed that her door and window were opened. She went inside and found that her Samsung Hi-Fi and speakers were stolen.

The docket was given to van Staden to investigate.

A suspect was traced and arrested on January 20 and the suspect was charged with house break-in and theft and went to court the following day.

The docket was remanded and information and an outstanding statement needed to be obtained.
