If you are having difficulty making ends meet and need a payment arrangement with the City of Joburg (CoJ), whether for a residential or business account, or due to a deceased estate and liquidation or sequestration, you can now apply with CoJ.
Residential account holder
You will need:
• Proxy letter – domestic accounts – a consent letter if the person is not the account holder
• Certified copy of IDs for both account holder and the person singing the acknowledgement of debt (AOD)
• Three months’ bank statements
• Lease agreement or affidavit
• Three months’ salary advice or if unemployed, proof of unemployment from Sars
• Bond statement if there is a registered bond on the property
• ESP – proof of registration
• Minimum of 10 per cent deposit/down payment depending on the financial analysis of each debtor
• ESP and pensioners proof of registration plus 10 per cent deposit/down payment
Business or commercial account holder
You will need:
• Proxy letter on company letterhead
• Latest financial audited statements (three years)
• Latest bank statements (six months)
• Certified copy of ID of specific persons who have authority to sign on behalf of the company
• Proof of 50 per cent deposit/down payment, if not afforded provide supporting documents
Deceased estate and liquidated/sequestrated account holder
You will need:
• Letter of executorship
• Certified copy of ID of executor and deceased
• Three months’ bank statement of executor
• Certified copy of death certificate
• Copy of liquidation and distribution of assets
• Deposit/down payment
