Housing employees test positive for Covid-19

The Department of Housing in the City of Joburg would like to inform the public that two of their employees tested positive for Covid-19 this week.

The first staff member works for the Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO), an entity of the Department, while the other is employed at the Reuven Old Age Home.

Both employees, who cannot be named due to confidentiality, are currently in self-isolation at home until they both fully recover from the virus that has claimed thousands of lives globally.

MMC for Housing Cllr Mlungisi Mabaso has instructed all other employees who have been in contact with the infected employees to undergo testing while they are in self-quarantine at their homes.

Furthermore, each and every unit will be disinfected through a deep-cleaning service to ensure that the facility remains free of Covid-19.

While many coronavirus cases continue to climb in our country, it is upon us as citizens to ensure that we maintain social distancing and apply precautionary measures to stop the spread of the deadly disease.

The MMC has urged all employees to be extra cautious during this period and apply all precautionary measures to curb the spread of the virus.
