Covid-19: Local project Jozi Ihlomile raises its hand to help

Jozi Ihlomile members were up and about in Booysens informal settlement armed with pamphlets and sanitisers, conscientising the community about the virus.

Members of Jozi Ihlomile put their masks and gloves on and went into the streets of Joburg South to help the community to understand the importance of staying at home to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

It is no secret that some community members did not heed the call by the President of the country when he said, “Everybody must stay at home to flatten the curve of coronavirus”.

Some people were still loitering in the streets of the South.

Siphiwo Abraham said they actually run an educational project dealing with HIV/Aids in Ward 124. However, they are now also doing awareness campaigns around the coronavirus.

“We’ve decided to go to Booysens informal settlement to do awareness about Covid-19. People have received us very well and they have asked for sanitisers, masks and gloves. I urge people to practice good hygiene and wash their hands regularly and stay indoors,” he said.
