Young magician ready to show the rest of the world his tricks

“I used to watch magic shows on television and afterward I would practice and try to master the tricks.

Young and down-to-earth magician Olebile Mooketsi wants to become one of the best magicians in the country.

The 14-year-old from Die Fakkel High School is known by his peers as Mr Magic as he occasionally performs magic tricks at school.

The North West-born star who is currently in Grade Eight said being a magician has always been his dream.

“I used to watch magic shows on television and afterward I would practice and try to master the tricks.

“As time went on, I found myself able to perform a few tricks which resulted in me being the best,” said Olebile.

Olebile said he wishes that through his magic he will one day be able to put something on the table for him and his family.

“I want to make a living out of this. Some people do not understand how important magic is to me. But my family has been supportive throughout and I normally do my tricks for them,’ explained Olebile.

Want to make a name

He explained that he performs his magic normally after school while waiting for his transport.

“The more I do magic in front of people, the more I gain experience and knowledge of the industry,’’ said Olebile.

He emphasised that he wants to compete with other well-known magicians to see if he has what it takes.

The young magician is open for call ups at any events if people want to see him do what he’s known for.

“If people call me for gigs I won’t mind going there because I want to put my name on the map. If I do a gig and they pay I would be happy but for now, I’m focusing on promoting my craft,” said Olebile.

About magic and schooling

He doesn’t allow his magic to come between him and his studies.

“I’m focused on my studies and I’m one of the hardworking learners in my class.

“I want to invent new things as a profession while I keep on doing my magic on the side line. So, to accomplish that I need to push in my academics,” concluded Olebile.

He closed by saying he appreciates the support his family gives him.
