WATCH: Man survives armed robbery in Florentia after being followed from bank

Suspects armed with handguns.

During the early afternoon on February 10, a man was followed by armed suspects in a silver Hyundai from a bank at Mall at Newmarket. The suspects then tried to rob him on Pieter Uys Avenue in Florentia.

According to the reports, two armed suspects got out of the car and started hitting the victim’s car windows with a firearm, but he managed to get away.

One of the suspect’s firearms got damaged during the robbery and a piece was left at the scene

Residents have been and still are cautioned to be extremely careful when withdrawing cash from banks.

CPS Security shared the following safety tips when withdrawing money:

• Avoid going into banks with bags which show you are collecting cash

• Ask your local security company for an armed escort

• Be alert of your surroundings

• Do not create a routine

• Keep a car length space at traffic lights in case you need to evade

• Don’t let people, such as employees, know you are dealing with cash

• Be vigilant when arriving at your destination as this is when robbery is most likely to happen.
