WATCH: Junior Singo shares a bit of his journey

Generations star speaks with the COURIER.

Actor and producer Junior Singo, who plays Mpho in the popular soapie Generations The Legacy, shares some of his life experiences as a performer.

The 30-year-old who hails from Mondeor started primary school at Laerskool WH Coetzer and finished primary school at Regents Park Primary School.

From there he completed his matric at Sir John Adamson High School in the south.

Junior has loads of talent, which he shares through motivational speaking and by being a producer, MC and event organiser.

Acting

Junior landed his first role in Beat the Drum as Musa thanks to his mother and aunt who told him about the auditions; he was 12 years old at the time.

Junior said at that time he never thought of acting or being on television because his focus was more on music.

“Everything was just new to me. But I nailed the audition and got my first role in the entertainment industry,” said Junior.

After this, he decided to focus on his academics and finish high school.

After matric, he decided to study sound engineering, but due to a few obstacles he dropped out.

Pushing on

Through the support of his family, who encouraged him to go back to acting, he went for another audition and was chosen as one of the cast for a local drama called Hopeville.

The drama was based on a father and son who arrived in the dusty town of Hopeville where they discover a mean little community where apathy, fear and suspicion were at the order of the day.

“The role I landed was huge and it led to many roles. I enjoyed it a lot,” said Junior.

He said no one inspires him to do great work except himself.

According to Junior, what keeps him going in the industry is the effort he puts into his work.

People in the industry he loves working with are Vusi Kunene and Vuyo Dabula.

In closing, he told the COURIER his favourite sport is mixed martial arts.
