The Upper Room Christian Church hosts modelling competition to inspire youth

Modelling competition staged to reach out to young people.

THE Upper Room Christian Church hosted a modelling competition titled Miss Chosen Generation, on August 31 in Bellavista.

The purpose of the event was to uplift, empower and encourage women and children to speak up against abuse.

Ray Williams and Lucinda Pietersen are sisters who grew up in Eldorado Park, a community which they believe drugs, unemployment and teenage pregnancies have destroyed young people’s lives.

Now, being encouraged by the environment in which they grew up, they have made it their mission to reach out to every young person in southern areas by providing them with all sorts of assistance in fighting abuse.

Hence the partnership with the church to stage this event just to enable them to deliver the message of saying women and children are determined and powerful, whether you are a church goer or not.

When the models appeared on the ramp, they carried placards with powerful and positive message to motivate all women present to believe in themselves and to know they can achieve big in life if they believe in themselves.

The winner of the day was Tamron Goosen with Patricia Mokgati and Bulelwa Kole coming second and third respectively.

The audience enjoyed the event and the church promises to host such events in the near future.

Ray and Lucinda want to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors who made the event possible.
