Successful arrests made by Johannesburg Flying Squad

Among the 11 suspects arrested, eight were arrested for armed robbery, one for assault common, one for possession of drugs and one for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

JOHANNESBURG Flying Squad members arrested 11 suspects for different crimes in different areas in Johannesburg and recovered two vehicles and two 9mm Beretta pistols with ammunition from September 6 to 9.

Among the 11 suspects arrested, eight were arrested for armed robbery, one for assault common, one for possession of drugs and one for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The two vehicles recovered are a white Toyota Fortuner, which was recovered after being stolen, and a white Toyota Conquest, which was recovered after being hijacked.

Johannesburg Flying Squad communications officer senior personal officer Raymond Sambo said the investigation continues in all cases.

“Working with the community led to these recoveries. SAPS appreciates the public’s contribution.

“It should also be noted that if anyone has any information regarding the vehicles, they may contact the relevant detective, quoting the relevant case number.

“All 11 suspects, aged between 20 and 41, will soon be appearing in different Magistrate’s Courts to face charges of armed robbery, assault common, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and possession of drugs,” he said.
