Women receive special talk

The purpose of the event was to celebrate the important role women play in South Africa.

HOWDEN Africa from Booysens hosted a Women’s Day event on August 9 in Booysens.

The purpose of the event was to celebrate the important role women play in South Africa. This event was only staged for the female employees of Howden.

Howden invited Debbie de Jager, an international speaker and a founding partner of John Maxwell’s team of coaches, trainers and speakers and has been trained and certified by John and his faculty personally.

She gave lessons about forgiveness saying most women are failing to achieve certain things in life because they can’t let go of the past.

De Jager said thoughts control what people do. Encouraging women, she said the mind is the garden and if they can make their thoughts a seed they can do something great but only if they think positive.

The ladies from Howden enjoyed the day and had a positive response about the event.

Neliswa Duma said, “‘It was a great event. We should do more of these in future.’’

Judy Wells, the project leader and change manager, said the event was a success and they hope to host another one next year.

“We will celebrate Heritage Day on September 20. We have planned a braai for all employees in our garden and asked them to wear their boldly South African or traditional attire. We will also take part in Casual Day in September as well as World Quality Day later in November. In addition to this, we still have several corporate social investment activities that will take us to year-end. Howden Africa is always looking to make a positive difference in our communities,” said Wells.

Howden would like to thank Billy G Buffet Restaurant in Gold Reef City, Leslie’s Pharmacy in Booysens, Tip Top Café’ in Side Road, West Turffontein, Sandwich Baron in Southdale Shopping Centre, Pitseng – Canteen and Select Sally Florist for sponsoring prizes.
