Mandela Day: Meals on Wheels gifted with groceries

Businesses come together to give back.

FIVE companies joined the rest of South Africans in giving back to the community when they delivered groceries to Meals on Wheels Haddon on July 18.

To commemorate Mandela Day, Mall of the South, Pam Golding Properties, SOJO, Gold Reef City and Howden Africa joined hands to assure that Meals on Wheels get food to feed hundreds of less fortunate.

Zwelakhe Lamula, branch manager of Meals on Wheels, said this donation will go a long way.

Meals on Wheels is grateful for a much-needed donation of groceries.

“We are lucky to have people who still care because we had little food left and this huge food donation will go a long way,” said Lamula.

Nicky Vakaloudi of SOJO was all smiles when Meals on Wheels received the groceries.

“I am excited to have had a hand in this initiative because it’s a good cause. People will be fed because of this day, which is something one should be proud of,” said Vakaloudi.
