Ashrama touches lives of the needy

This thanks to the Sri Adi Shankara Ashrama, Winchester Hills, South of Johannesburg, who recently embarked upon a massive outreach Seva project.

POOR and needy residents of Extension 10, Lenasia, were treated to a very sumptuous meal and given blankets, knitwear and other basic needs for their daily sustenance.

This thanks to the Sri Adi Shankara Ashrama, Winchester Hills, South of Johannesburg, who recently embarked upon a massive outreach Seva project.

The charity drive involving almost 80 volunteers from different parts of Gauteng, aimed at poverty alleviation, turned out to be a glittering success. The outreach drive was held at the Sharicrest Primary School in Lenz. Said Swami Shraddhananda Mataji, trustee of the Mission:

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors, donors, well-wishers and volunteers, without whose assistance this project would not have been possible. The fact that so many residents of the community came in such large numbers to partake of the meal, fruits, fruit juices and other food items, means that there is still much to be done in regards to poverty in our country. It is most heartening to know that there are still such wonderful humanitarians and well-wishers that care about the plight of the hungry and destitute, which gives us more encouragement to embark on such projects in the future.”

The entire Seva project was conducted under the auspices of the Sannyasa Diksha anniversary of Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj, Founder of the Divine Life Society of Uttarakhand, Himalayas, India.
