One dead and two injured in collision on N12 Voortrekker off-ramp

A woman sustained numerous fatal injuries and two others were treated before transported to hospital.

ONE person was killed and two others injured on June 5 when a truck and light motor vehicle collided on the N12 near the Voortrekker off-ramp in Alberton.

ER24 personnel, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 9.30am to find the light motor vehicle on the side of the road. The truck was found parked a short distance away.

On closer inspection, paramedics found three people lying inside the light motor vehicle.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that a woman, seated in the front of the vehicle, had sustained numerous fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for her and she was declared dead on scene.

Two other patients, both men, were tended to on scene. One man was found in a critical condition, while the second man had sustained moderate injuries.

The patients were treated for their injuries and the critically injured man provided with advanced life-support interventions before they were transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
