WATCH: South’s shining star on the rise

Ntando believes financial literacy is one of the most critical skills the youth of today need, thus he launched his stokvel, Mind Yo Biz (MYB) - save, invest & earn, in May.

NTANDO Makwela (17), one of the youngest Play Your Part Ambassadors for Brand South Africa, is a living testimony that South Africa and the African continent’s futures are bright.

He is a Grade 11 learner at Nova Pioneer, Ormonde Campus, an aspiring quantum physicist, leader and innovator who is making his contribution towards shaping the African Century.

As South Africans celebrated Freedom Month in April, Ntando launched his digital platform, DynamicKid TV, on YouTube, where he equips and inspires the younger generation to take charge of their future.

It’s no wonder he became the first South African teenager to build a Sling 4 aeroplane, in partnership with Airplane Factory and another teenage author, they gathered 20 teenagers from various schools in Gauteng at the Tedderfield Park in Eikenhof, South of Johannesburg, during the 2018 June holidays.

Only a year later, Ntando has achieved so much in his entrepreneurship journey that he is a true inspiration for millions of SA’s youth as the country celebrates national Youth Month.

Mulbarton’s Ntando recently shared a stage as he addressed Johannesburg Rotary Club veterans with one of South Africa’s multiple award-winning entrepreneur, Adrian Gore, the CEO of Discovery Holdings Ltd, and chairperson of both Destiny Health Inc in the USA and Prudential Health in the UK.

Ntando believes financial literacy is one of the most critical skills the youth of today need, thus he launched his stokvel, Mind Yo Biz (MYB) – save, invest & earn, in May.

As chairperson of the stokvel, he is supported by two third year University of Johannesburg students – Lisakhanya Duruwe, a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting student (treasurer), and Karabo Monwametsi, a Bachelor in Law (LLB) student (administrator) – and Claudia Makwela as the project manager.

Ntando believes MYB is going to change the trajectory of South African youth as they will learn how to save their pocket money and invest and earn interest from it long before they enter the world of work. The stokvel promotes the culture of saving and empowers young people with monetary management skills, life skills and soft skills that will build them to become responsible economic citizens and contribute positively towards building and growing a sustainable economy for South Africa.

Ntando has a busy schedule during Youth Month with Child and Youth Finance International Global Summit on June 19 and 20 from 8am to 4pm at Maslow Hotel and Dynamic Teens Talk on June 29 from 10am to 1pm at Starbucks Melrose Arch.
