On number five is Sir John Adamson High School with 3 488 applications.

ON May 21, Alberton High School led the pack of the top 10 schools that have reached their capacity within 24 hours of online registration with 4 151 applications.

On number five is Sir John Adamson High School with 3 488, Hoërskool President High School has 3 443 applications at number seven and Mondeor High School at number eight with 3 300 applications.

The Gauteng Department of Education said it had received complaints from parents that some schools are compelling parents to fill in their administrative forms before accepting required documents from parents. The schools are not allowed to do so in this application period.

“The online application system is the future. It provides for a fair and equitable opportunity for parents to apply at public schools. We are humbled by the overwhelming support and response from parents. Once more, we wish to apologise to parents who were frustrated by the slowness in the first few minutes after the system switch-on,” said MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
