Man arrested for hijacking Debonairs motorbike in Bassonia

Motorbike recovered by SAPS.

A 36-YEAR-OLD suspect was arrested on May 9, for hijacking a Debonairs motorcycle in Bassonia.

It’s alleged that the suspect and his accomplice in a white car blocked the 32-year-old driver of the motorbike at about 12 noon when he was on his way back from a meeting.

The suspect threatened the victim at a gunpoint while his accomplice searched him. The victim’s cellphone, wallet and bike was taken away leaving him on the street.

Johannesburg Central SAPS communications officer Xoli Mbele said the case was reported at Mondeor Police Station. After a tracking signal was activated the motorbike was recovered and one suspect was found in Rosettenville and was apprehended while the accomplice is still at large.
