WATCH: Rosettenville resident wins best movie trailer award

His movie, Marriage Beyond Love, which he wrote and stars in, is one of his great achievements so far.

CHERRY Amij Tshibamba (30) from Rosettenville won the best movie trailer award at the 1 Minute Film Festival at Ster-Kinekor Cinema Nouveau Rosebank last month.

His movie, Marriage Beyond Love, which he wrote and stars in, is one of his biggest achievement so far. Besides script writing, Amij is also a movie producer, comedian and gospel artist.

Born in Mbujimayi, a town in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Amij came to South Africa in 2006 to further his education. His great talent in entertainment started when he was 12 years old, acting in local dramas and doing stand-up comedy at schools and churches.

“In this great journey of entertainment I founded a production company called Ke-Shet Entertainment which stands for ‘rainbow’. I am aiming to create an environment where in diversity we can accept, create jobs and empower the community and youth. I owe my success to God and also the work of my great team of talented individuals who worked very hard for this project,” he said.

Amij is the brother-in-law of the late Martina Kigiongo, a 24-year-old woman who was brutally stabbed 15 times in front of her children by an angry tenant, two years ago.

“Martina is one of actresses in this movie and as a family we would like to thank the COURIER who put her tragic passing story into light in 2017. She is in the movie, may her soul rest in peace,” he said.

Amij also mentioned that the movie will be screened next month at the Bulgaria Film Festival.
