Helping the youth of South Hills through dancing classes

Keeping the youth off the streets through dancing.

AMTEN Wagner’s (33) dream finally came true as his desire was to give the youth a life away from crime.

The 33-year-old from South Hills said after his story was published in the COURIER people showed interest in his vision in bringing the youth together through dancing. The previous story the COURIER wrote about him, Using dance to fight substance abuse, stated that he formed a group called Trigger in 2016 to keep the youth busy, but due to financial strains it fizzled out.

Amten told COURIER his dream is now in motion as classes have commenced. He was helped by various people, especially his girlfriend, who gave him the capital to get his group underway.

“I’m happy that people are now supporting me. Thank you to South Hills Recreation Centre for giving me the space to work. My girlfriend has been a pillar of strength throughout. This group will grow bigger and better, our streets will be safe if young people have something to do, like joining Trigger,” Amten told COURIER.

Currently, Amten has 10 people on board, but he believes in the coming three months the number will be even bigger.
