Sibongile sells amasonja’s for extra money

Amasonja entrepreneur relates with COURIER.

SIBONGILE Ndebele (46) loves selling her amasonja worms because it has given her a new lease on life.

The 46-year-old, from Rosettenville and a mother of four, said selling amasonja has given her the opportunity to interact with people more than before.

It has made her independent and now she is able to assist her husband with house necessities as he has been the sole breadwinner in the household for the past two decades.

Sibongile established her amasonja business in March after suffering a stroke.

She reckons spending time selling helps her keep her body healthy and fit. She has to walk from home to her selling corner-point which is about 50km away. She believes that one day her business will grow and she will be required to outsource workers.

Ndebele’s prices range from R15 to R30 depending on how many grams of amasonjas one needs. She gets her products in Venda, Limpopo. She emphasised that her sonja’s aren’t alive.

“I’m not selling amasonja because my family and I are struggling financially. I just want to have extra money for myself and be able to give my children extra money as well,” Sibongile said.

She has made it a point that she doesn’t only sell but creates a circle of friends along the way. She treats everyone with reverence and humility.

“I have associated myself with people who are driven and enthusiastic. As I want to see my business reaching greater heights I have to be with individuals who think big,” added Sibongile.

She is currently selling at Main Street in Rosettenville and in the next couple of months she wants to see herself selling in a store, not in the streets.
