LISTEN: Local artist reaches high note

This talented writer, illustrator and a publisher who has a book, Blue Flame, is slowly but surely making a name for himself.

REGENTS Park artist Joseph Somwe has put more feathers in his hat – he has released his first song called Sandton City My City.

The talented writer, illustrator and a publisher, has published a book, Blue Flame. He is slowly but surely making a name for himself.

Joseph Somwe, also known as JoeyPoetic, said the song was about people appreciating where they come from and enjoying circumstances in which they find themselves in instead of putting unnecessary pressure on themselves to live glamorous lives in one of Africa’s richest square miles – Sandton City.

“Everyone wants to chase that luxurious lifestyle. At the end of the day, they find themselves battling with many social issues such as depression all for the love of money and enhancing their standard of living.

“Through this song, I seek to remind people from different walks of life to appreciate where they come from and to uplift their communities. My song is out on Soundcloud (online audio distribution platform and music sharing website) and on my bio on Instagram @joeypoetic_art. Simply click the link and enjoy great music from Somwe Art Music,” he said.
