WATCH: Johanna Deysel celebrates her 99 years with friends

One more year left for Johanna Deysel to reach a century.

IT was jubilation all over as elderly residents of Jafta Haven Old Age Home celebrated with Johanna Deysel as she reached a milestone of 99 years without any health issues.
Johanna Deysel was born in 1920 in Middleburg, Mpumalanga. She had 12 siblings. Unfortunately they all died in the ’90s.
She was blessed with two beautiful children who also have passed on. The only family she has left are her grandsons.
Johanna didn’t let her sorrows spoil her big day as she sliced her birthday cake with a huge smile on her face.
Nurses and friends at Jafta regard her as a people’s person and extroverted individual. She participates in every activity conducted at the home. She is a religious person who loves praying and reading her Bible. Most of her friends at the home enjoy her company.

She told the COURIER she feels honoured to be thrown such a wonderful birthday.

“This is one of the days I will never forget. I feel loved and appreciated thanks to all those who made this day possible,” said Johanna.

According to Johanna she enjoys every minute of her life in the home.
Her hobbies include reading and exercising. What people love about her is her reverence towards her fellow residents. Even nurses love sharing conversations with her because of her humility and wisdom.
One of her friends, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: “She is one of a kind. I enjoy spending time with her and I get inspired and motivated every time we are together. May the good Lord bless her with many more years.”
Johanna wants to take this opportunity to thank all of her friends and staff members at Jafta who made this day possible.
