ANGRY Bangladesh and Somalia nationals could only watch as their counterfeit clothing goods were confiscated by SAPS on February 8.
SAPS were in full force as they raided every popular shop known for selling fake brands at Jeppe and Delvers streets in the CBD.
All alleged fake goods seized were shoes, jeans, T-shirts and jackets.
Both Bangladesh and Somalis were up in arms, claiming to COURIER that police should’ve warned them to stop selling counterfeit goods.
One of the nationals said, “This is not good at all. When they come here to raid our shops they should warn us and issue a warrant of some sort. The way we are being treated is not good, we also have rights even though we are foreigners.”
The motorists had to use alternative routes as Jeppe Street was blockaded. This is one of the operations of #buyamthetho which seeks to bring order and decrease the level of crime in the City.
SAPS Gauteng Provincial Communication officer Kay Makhubela said, “This is a continuous operation which is conducted from time to time.”
