Vehicle crash claims ward councillor’s life

Ward 122 Councillor Ace Mokoenyane leaves behind wife and child.

THE sudden death of Ward 122 Councillor Ace Mokoenyane has left his family, community and comrades in disbelief.

Mokoenyane, his wife and two-year-old child were involved in a vehicle collision travelling from Louis Trichardt to Johannesburg on the evening of January 8. The collision instantly claimed his life while his wife sustained injuries and she was rushed to hospital. Their child escaped unharmed.

Mokoenyane was described as humble and a dedicated individual who was seeking to make a difference in his ward, even before his appointment as ward councillor.

The African National Congress Johannesburg caucus spokesperson, Jolidee Matongo, said the death of Mokoenyane leaves a gaping hole in the council and the communities he was serving.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to Mokoenyane’s family and friends during this period of grief. His death is indeed a great loss to all. May his soul rest in peace,” said Matongo.
