Abandoned baby found at bus stop in The Hill

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, the baby was assessed and found to have escaped injury, although he was suffering from low body temperature.

A BABY boy, who is believed to be three months old, was found covered in a blanket at a bus stop on January 1 in The Hill.

ER24 paramedics were called to the scene after a resident had discovered the body of the baby lying at the station.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, the baby was assessed and found to have escaped injury, although he was suffering from low body temperature.

After it was established that the baby is in no danger, he was handed over to SAPS for further investigation.

Moffiatview SAPS confirmed to COURIER the baby was handed over to them on the day he was found.

“The baby was handed over to social workers and has been placed at Johannesburg Child Welfare on the day he was found,” said Const Besiree Nose.

A case of child negligence has been opened and police are trying to locate the parent/s of the baby.
