Bellavista pharmacy owner resilient in face of fire

The owner, Shailen Mistry, said he received a call from the security company that the pharmacy was on fire.

BELLAVISTA Pharmacy burned down in the early hours of Monday, December 3.

The owner, Shailen Mistry, from Bassonia, said he received a call from the security company that the pharmacy was on fire.

“It was about 3am when I received the call and I rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, the fire brigade was already there. There was a huge fire and smoke that engulfed the pharmacy. They broke the door for access into the building while trying to dowse the fire.

“It is still unknown what caused the fire. However, the forensic team will assess the place.

“Almost 70 per cent of the stock was damaged in the fire. The white wall is now black,” explained Shailen.

He said he is very sorry to the customers about the inconvenience caused, but he will open the pharmacy two stores away from the burnt one on Wednesday, December 12.
