Long grass and rubbish frustrates Bellavista resident

She told the COURIER that the manager of the flat has paid no attention to their concerns.

LOUISA Human is at her wits’ end about long grass in their courtyard of Duiker Flats in Bellavista.

She said rats have been breeding in their homes because of the uncut grass. Human wants the grass removed before it can cause harm to children.

She told the COURIER that the manager of the flat has paid no attention to their concerns.

“These flats are neglected and unattended by the ward councillor and the manager. We as residents can cut the grass ourselves but only if we can be provided with materials to do so. This long grass has also served as hiding spots for thugs,” she said.

The long, unattended grass is not the only problem. According to Louisa, cracked walls, burst sewage pipes and filthiness are not attended to.

“All that I want to see is the grass cut and rubbish cleaned. That will soften my hurt,” said Human.

Ward 55 Councillor Rashieda Landis said the correct person residents should speak to about the matter is Graig Mackett.

The acting assistant director of the flats, Graig Mackett, said the cutting of grass has its own programme which will commence sometime in December.
