South Hills children play while water wash away

A burst water pipe concerns residents of Geneva Street in South Hills but children enjoyed playing in the water.

A BURST water pipe concerns residents of Geneva Street in South Hills but children enjoyed playing in the water.

Residents said the problem has been there for three days and they are afraid that children might get hurt. Residents tried to defuse the situation by calling their own local plumber to help out but that paid no dividends.

They further claim when something of this nature happens in the ward, the councillor turns a blind eye on them.

“All that we want is that the leak should be fixed so that we can move on with our lives. Our children can be knocked over by vehicles while playing in the water,” said a concerned resident who does not want to be named.

The COURIER asked the children why they are playing with the water and they said, “Water is fun and exciting so we wish for things to stay this way forever.”

When the COURIER contacted Ward 57 Councillor Faeeza Chame she confirmed contractors are on site repairing the pipe.
