Vitafoam donates to Stepping Stone

“At the end of a person’s life, small things like a comfortable bed just make things a bit more bearable for them.”

STEPPING Stone Hospice was delighted when Vitafoam paid them a visit on October 26 and donated 25 high-quality mattresses to them.

Vitafoam is the largest producer of flexible polyurethane foam in South Africa. They’re involved in the furniture and bedding markets, as well as industrial sectors such as packaging, cleaning and insulation.

Out of respect for Stepping Stone’s cause, this company decided to donate these mattresses towards their patients. Kobus Horn, Vitafoam’s factory manager, said these mattresses should last them about five years, as opposed to a standard mattress that usually lasts a mere two years in the hospice.

“At the end of one’s life, one deserves the best bed possible,” said Kobus. “We appreciate what Stepping Stone does and we look forward to definitely supporting them again in the future.”

Tersia Burger, Stepping Stone’s founder, expressed her gratitude towards this gift.

“Thank you so much. It’s forever appreciated by us and the patients whose lives will be so much better because of this. At the end of a person’s life, small things like a comfortable bed just make things a bit more bearable for them.”
